Looking for Johnny Moon Found New Juan Lunas.

The first Ilocos Norte Creative Media Arts Festival dubbed as "Looking for Johnny Moon" was held at the Plaza del  Norte last July 14-16, 2011.  The said festival was  attended by educators, writers, budding film makers and artists from DLSU-College of St. Benilde, University of Baguio, SLU-Baguio, schools from Ilocandia like MMSU, DWCL, INCAT, INNHS, ISALA, Savior's Academy and HSAL.
Resource speakers were Soxy Topacio and Mark Meily, both stage and film directors.
I was the lone representative of INCAT on the first day when Scriptwriting was tackled by Soxy Topacio and Directing was shared by Mark Meily.  A tour of the different tourist spots in Ilocos was included  to enable the workshop participants to get inspiration for the output, a short film shot on the same day.
I joined 3 young gentlemen, one of them was my actor for INCAT Theater Arts Guild of which I've been an Adviser for years now.  We made a short movie, "Bubble Gum".  I made the script.  The 4 of us acted in the film, one was the camera man, and one was assigned as director.
The script I wrote won First Prize in Scriptwriting.
"Looking for Johnny Moon" paved the way for discovering new talents in digital photography and animation too.
Awarding of prizes was held in a most fitting place, the house of Juan Luna (Johnny Moon) in Badoc, Ilocos Norte.
The new breed of Juan Lunas will inspire others who have what it takes to be a famous Media Arts enthusiast.
I believe there's a Johnny Moon in each of us.  There's a Johnny Moon in every gathering or group. There's a Johnny Moon in every Ilocano.

PARTS OF A NEWSPAPER

PARTS OF A NEWSPAPER

NEWS STORIES OR CURRENT NEWS give account of events that recently happened. They aim to keep the reader up-to-date on  political, economic, cultural and other events.  It is generally the first section in any major daily newspaper. The news are split into local news and international /foreign news.

EDITORIAL is an article expressing the stand or opinion of the editor or publisher on the hottest news or a current issue.

An EDITORIAL SECTION of the newspaper is where writers are allowed to present their opinions and persuasive articles.  They can take the forms of:
Staff Editorials: These are pieces written by staff writers and published unsigned and that they should be perceived as the collective opinion of the newspaper itself.
SIGNED EDITORIALS are published by individual reporters and published with a by-line.  They are meant to be taken as the opinion of that individual writer.

FEATURE STORY is a type of a news story that is written from the angle of human interest.  Sometimes called "soft news", this section contains more light-hearted pieces to entertain, inform, or instruct readers on things they will enjoy. Such pieces include:
entertainment; human interest, music, television or play reviews; celebrity interviews, social columns about parties and events of the "hoi polloi", advice columns and comic strips.

COLUMNS express the writer's views on any issue or issues.

BUSINESS NEWS reports on the status of different businesses and industries.

SPORTS NEWS gives the results of national and international sports competitions/games and their advance reports and schedules.  This also includes news on sports celebrities.

READERS' OPINIONS includes the readers' comments & opinions sent to the newspaper publisher or editor-in-chief.  Most publishers allot at least a half page for the readers' opinions.
